Family Phocidae: True Seals

The True Seals, or Earless Seals, belong to the family Phocidae, one of three families of Pinnipeds. The other groups are the fur seals and sea lions. True Seals are distinguished in the way they move on the beach in a crawling manner. This is unlike sea lions which are able to use their hind flippers to almost walk while on shore.
