The apple guava or common guava (Psidium guajava; known as Goiaba in Brazil and Guayava in parts of The Americas) is an evergreen [1]shrub [2] or small tree [3] native to Mexico [4], the Caribbean [5], and Central [6] and South America [7].[1] [8] It is easily pollinated [9] by insects; in culture, mainly by the common honey bee, Apis mellifera [10].
This species has become invasive in central and southern Florida and should not be planted or sold there. [2] [11]
The plant is used in many different shampoo products for its scent.
