Keren has a background in fine arts, animation, education, exploration, and researching obscure and cool topics. While getting her Art BA at UC Berkeley, she discovered the natural world as an endless resource for inspiration and started drawing very strange creatures, both real and imaginary. She also discovered a passion for working with kids and sharing her love of the environment, through both science and art.
Animation became the way to bring it all together. At USC's department of Animation and Digital Arts, Keren began working with the Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies to make animations that could serve as entertainment and educational tools. After graduating she teamed up with the Untamed Science crew, creating artwork and short animations to supplement their amazing science videos. Some of her favorite topics to animate were the phyla of fungi, coral reproduction, and fish/dolphin movement.
She has also created art and animation for television, comics, documentaries, museum installations, websites and video games. Her short films have screened at film festivals worldwide. In her spare time she draws, paints and collects high fives. Find out more at www.kerenalbala.com
