The division of plants known as the Gnetophyta (gnetophytes) contain three living genera of woody gymnosperms:

  • Gnetum
  • Welwtischia
  • Ephedra

The Gnetophyta are different from the other gymnosperms because they have vessel elements, a characteristic that is commonin Angiosperms.
