The genus Amorphophallus contains some 170 tropical and subtropical plants.  It includes the plant with the largest inflorescence in the world, the titan arum.  

Some of the plants in this genus are known as famine foods.  If eaten raw, the irritating chemicals will cause discomfort and even severe medical issues.
