Nelumbo: Genus Nelumbo

Sacred Lotus

There are two species in this family, the Indian Lotus and the American Lotus.  The Indian Lotus is the national flower of both Indian and Vietnam. Even in areas where these plants are native, they can become a weed due to their ability to spread in wetland habitats.
