The order Caryophyllales contains around six percent of all living dicots.  There are approximately 33 families and 11,155 species.  It is the order of the cacti, carnations, amaranths, beets, ice plants, tamarisks and most carnivorous plants, such as the venus fly traps and the pitcher plants.  Several members are also quite succultent with thick, fleshy stems and leaves.
