The Order Strigiformes is make up of birds of prey known as owls. Presently there are about 200 living species of owls. In general, owls live alone and are active at night. There are some species though, such as the Snowy Owls and the Burrowing Owls which are active primarily in the daytime.

What do Owls Eat?

Most owls eat small mammals, insects, and other birds. A few owls specialize in eating fish.

Where do Owls Live?

Owls live in almost all regions of the Earth. They do not live in Antarctica and most of Greenland. Even on remote islands like Hawaii, you can often find Owls.

There are two families of owls. The True Owls (Strigidae) and Barn Owls (Tytonidae). 

Interesting facts:

A group of owls is known as a parliament.
