Biodiversity Web and Ecogeek Community

Who are We

You're new to Untamed Science and you don't know what it is all about? For starters, let's explain this amazing collection of portals. In the upper right-hand side of the page we have thumbnails that lead to different portals. Each one contains a working resource for science-geeks. It is all made possible via a team of graduate students, teachers, and econuts that have decided to unite forces to help educate the world about the world around us. We like to collectively call this team the ecogeeks and we're trying to get every educator and eco-student on the team. If you'd like to help us, become an ecogeek and then send us an email via our contact pages. We'd love to hear from you.

Find a community to learn and share!

We know that its hard to find good people that share your interests in what seem like small biology fields. But, you may be surprised when you learn just how many people are in your area and share your interests. This is your way to stay in touch with other ecogeeks AND have the opportunity to contribute to the revolution!

Explore Biodiversity!

This portal serves as the beginning to a working tree of life that will include the best youtube videos about each species, photos, and content written by reliable sources. You can add photos too! Simply go to any of our biodiversity pages and start the process. Its a way to share your images of your favorite animal with the world!

Harness the power of VIDEO!

Not only are we trying to share videos with you, but we want you to have the knowledge and power to learn how to make films about our environment. To do that we've compiled an in-depth filmmaking guide to explain everything you need to get started telling great stories. HOW TO FILMMAKING GUIDE

Lessons in science!

If you're a teacher, we want to help you help others. Upload your favorite lesson plans and we'll help categorize them so that other teachers can benefit from your hard work. We hope that you'll be able to utilize this resource in ways that make your teaching more effective and ultimately inspire our youth in ways we never thought possible.

Updates from Untamed Science

August 2010

While the Summer may be winding down a bit, August proves to be the busiest month for the ecogeeks. We have multiple Chemistry shoots in NY, IL, WI, HI, FL, TX, WA, MT and CO. There is still a bit more fun to have in the air as some of the crew continue to work on their skydive certifications. The last few crew members are just now coming back from Costa Rica where they were teaching a course in Tropical Rainforest ecology. Dan and Diego will be in the Caverns of Sonora too, the most decorated caverns in the US! Meanwhile Jaime is leading the production of several Chemistry videos in short geocaching adventures and pirate spoofs in Florida. During mid August, Suze and Dan are in Hawaii filming spinner dolphins!

We’re starting a revolution in the way the world sees science. Join us. In the very near future we'll be ready for your help!
